Nokia e71 Battery Life

If you're a gadget person, then you know all about the new Nokia e71. It's a Symbian-operated PDA phone that should get the Blackberry a run for its money.

It features all the standard stuff that you'd see on a phone released in 2008 (ie. bluetooth, gps, wi-fi, 3G, etc.). It's by far one of the sexiest phones to be released in awhile (with the exception of the iPhone, of course).

However, there is one small problem.

I just received mine in the mail over the weekend. I've had some time to play with it, and I must say that t
he battery life is horrible.

Yesterday, I sent a few text messages and emails, browsed the web and watched a couple YouTube videos, made some phone calls via my bluetooth, and instant messaged my friends. In no time flat, my battery had depleted.

My solution? A solar cell phone charger. My car charger isn't always available, so this is the best way to get the job done.

The bottom line is...

If you have a Nokia e71, you may want to think about how you'll keep it charged up.

Change your email settings to every 15 mins instead of 'always on'....

Well I also have a Nokia e71 and one of its commonly appreciated factors is the fact it has a 1500mah LONG LIFE battery, and having the phone now for a month i can officially say you're an idiot.
1, turn off 3G reception unless using you use video calls, it wastes far too much battery life (why would you use video calls anyway?)
2, TURN OFF YOUR BLUETOOTH. People don't seem to give a shit about the fact your battery life is halved by having a file transferring signal constantly radiating out of your phone.
3, turn off automatic email checks.. if you are curious whether or not you have email... goto the bloody inbox.

I have had a Blackberry Curve for the past two years and have just switched to a E71. On both devices I have two pushed email accounts 24/7. The Curve battery lasts about three days, the E71 barely lasts one day. I'm not sure why the E71 is getting such positive reviews regarding battery life.

Caveat: My cell provider (Rogers Canada) appears to have removed the option to disable 3G so maybe this is what is sucking my battery life?!

I have a new E71. I don´t sync e-mail and don´t have 3G plan. The battery leaves 48hs at maximun.

Cool post as for me. I'd like to read a bit more concerning that topic. The only thing your blog misses is some pics of any gizmos.

Even with Bleutooth on (for car headset) is keeps me through 2 days+, as soon as i use the GPS in my car i have to put the charger in because the GPS is really a batterysucker, for the rest the battery is going pretty well, i have the phone now almost 2 years.
